Today is my first birthday. If it didn't start here, you would have never read this right now. How's that for my impact on your life?

I grew up with art and design as a part of my everyday life. My father ran his own pottery studio until he began working with my mother, who runs an interior design firm, Devenish Associates. It wasn't a big surprise when I started telling people that I too desired to design.

In the fall I will be a Senior at the University of Cincinnati in the college of Design Architecture Art and Planning (DAAP), and I'm majoring in Digital Design. I will be graduating in the Spring of 2008 with a BS in Design.

At the beginning of 2007, I started an interactive design firm, i n s p y r e, with two friends and colleagues, Michael Kebbekus and Andy Konwinski.

This is now my 5th portfolio site, first starting in 2002. This time, I went back to the basics. The entirety of this site is built with tables and mild CSS. I wanted it simple. There isn't anything special about this site, other than its simplicity. It's lean, clean, easy to read, has lots of elbow room, and *GASP* it's functional!

Functionality explains the whole of my design experience. In the interactive world, whether it be on the web, an operating system, your iPod iPhone or an ATM interface, the form must follow the function. I believe a sophistacted interface relies on functionality, and that its beauty can only only been seen when it functions. In other words, no one cares about the bells and whistles when it can't perform its most basic and necessary functions.
