When Opower first developed it's web portal, it created a series of products to help customers better understand their energy use and provide a touchpoint for engaging with the utility. Seven years later, the portal hadn't changed much despite the goals of the utility industry shifting.
While Opower made the decision to rearchitect it's suite of web products, the Design team took this as an opportunity to be critical of why the web portal was originally designed and redefine the goals of the product to meet the industry changes taking place.
