Toshiba Libretto

A limited edition product celebrating Toshiba's 25 years in computing.

The Libretto was designed to be different. It has two touchscreen displays that can act as separate displays or one unified screen running Windows OS. Toshiba asked Smart Design to help design proprietary software in support of key functionality for this one-of-a-kind product.

My team was tasked with desiging compelling interactions that enabled users to use the unique funcitons available in the book-like form factor. I also led the visual treatment of the entire system.

Reel Time - An overlay with all your recent files.
Even standard operating system funcitons required redesign to better support the full touchscreen environent. Here is Windows Explorer on Libretto.
Sporting multiple keyboard layouts to support various styles of typing.
It's weird [using a touchscreen] when you still need the functionality of a trackpad and mouse pointer. I promise, though, it was necessary.
